Part one of a six-part post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror serial

"I don't know how, exactly, but I guess it must crawl inside me, because first I can feel it, then I start to hear it. Chittering. Whispering. Telling me to do things. Terrible things.

To my kids."

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

When the body of TV weather presenter, Lacey Crane, is found cut in half, it's just another night in Glasgow for DCI Robert Hoon of the all-new amalgamated Police Scotland. But Lacey's death is only the beginning of the worst night of Hoon's life, and as chaos and violence spread across the city and beyond, others are also forced to face horrors unlike anything they've ever seen.

Fast-paced, gripping and terrifying - dare you catch THE BUG?

ABOUT THE SERIAL

No-one knows where the bugs come from. They emerge from the shadows all over the world, creeping and crawling out of the darkness and burrowing beneath the skin of every man, woman and child they encounter.

Once inside, the bugs begin whispering dark thoughts into the minds of their hosts and driving them to carry out horrifying acts of violence against those not infected.

Most survivors try to hide from the bugs and the bugged. Most don’t succeed. But all over the world pockets of uninfected people find ways first to stay alive, then to fight back. This is their story.

Because it isn't a virus that will end the world. It's a bug.

The Bug Episode 1 eBook Barry J Hutchison

I went into The Bug pretty much blind and a little skeptical, however I was pleasantly surprised with how awesome the intro episode was. When I started reading, all I could think was "Wow," because years of horror movies and television, along with getting older, have desensitized me to this genre; I thought I'd seen it all. From the opening chapter I was creeped out and, most importantly, hooked.

The story has a great premise and the end of each chapter leaves you wanting more. Not too mention how well-written it is. So much character development and action is packed into just a few lines. It amazed me. Reminded me a bit of the way Stephen King writes.

I finished in one sitting, which wasn't hard considering the length and pacing, and after I finished, I instantly bought Episode 2. Overall, this is a strong introduction in a very promising post-apocalyptic/horror serial.
P.S. The updated cover is awesome! Fits the book much better than the original.

The Bug Episode 1 eBook Barry J Hutchison Reviews

A gripping read that left me breathless with anticipation to discover the horrors to unfold from one chapter to the next.
This I have to say, is the most twisted beginning of a series that I've ever read. Gripping, fast paced, and surreal, the author does a great job fleshing out the characters and then killing them off. I am so looking forward to the next book.
Wow! What a ride! From the opening page until the end, you are drawn into this book by a hook & chain! Great horror, great description, great read! If you like horror & bugs don't bother you, get this book & read it! Just be sure to leave the light on.....
First of all I am not a fan of bugs. ..at all. Not to study , or anything. They give me the creeps. They are right up there with rodents. This is a SCARY HORROR STORY FOR ME. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT IS HAPPENING. WE ALL HAVE PHOBIAS..THIS IS ONE OF MINE. IF YOU LIKE BEING SCARED...YOU WILL LOVE THIS TALE...I RECOMMEND!
This story will have entomologists burning their collections just to be safe! This is a whole new take on human infection. The different perspectives are all engaging and terrifying. I can't wait to read the rest! But during the day. In a clean room. I've always loved bugs...now they're quite a bit suspect to me.
I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this book.

As a first installment it does jump a bit person to person, but still it turned out to be a very good intro.

Initially irritated by the way it seemed to be jumping around, I found it to be a very good and intriguing book. I would recommend it to anyone and have purchased the second book. If it's as good as the first, I hope there's a combined book so I don't have to buy them separately.
The Bug by Barry J. Hutchison is a futuristic-dystopian short story. I found it terrifying. I gave it four stars.

"I gotta admit, insects aren't really my strong point. I don't like them. In fact, I loathe the creepy-crawly....My natural instinct is to bludgeon them on sight with whatever happens to be closest to hand."

The world seems to have gone crazy with brutal crimes. One policeman, Martin Marshall thought "There was a numbness in his chest, like the aftermath of an electric shock. His heart was no longer in there, it was up around his ears, surging the blood through his veins with a whump-whump-whump."

This is "to be continued".

I received a complimentary kindle copy from . That did not change my opinion for this review.
