It's a good short overview of HR. Good read for an aspiring HR professional that wants to know more about it as well as some good tips
This book will give you a good understanding of the skillset required to be successful in HR. Author covers the basics, support systems and working your way up to the top roles. Recommended for anyone interested in the HR industry.
I received a free pdf copy of this manuscript in return for an honest review. I finished reading it tonight and coming from a corporate environment where I interact very closely with HR representatives, I would say that if you are at the early stages of your company and wanting to understand how to develop your HR roles, this could be a guideline for helping to establish some general protocol. Not all suggestions are relevant or current in todays corporate environment. There were good ideas and some dated ideas as any google search would reveal. The writer covered basic thoughts and ideas and was very pro HR. One thing to always remember is the "human" part of Human Resources....as this was pointed out. This concept is lost in much of the corporate world today where the bottom line rarely has anything "human" associated with it. Again, a quick read to help establish some basic HR principles but I don't know that I would follow all steps as written. Modify according to your needs.

HR for Dummies is so much better if you want the basics
I wasn't expecting this book to only be forty four pages long. While the content was helpful, I think I could have researched as much with a quick google search. I wouldn't have paid as much as I did for it if I had realized that it was going to be a quick overview with about 2-3 pages for each topic. I'm somewhat satisfied with my purchase, I just hope that other people will be more observant than I was and that they won't be expecting a full length book.
